Background
I am a 23 year old aspiring filmmaker based in Bedford, England. Looking back on it, my fascination with video production stems from my childhood, when I would write and film sketches with a neighbourhood friend. At the time I thought of it as just a bit of fun, but this blossomed into a genuine interest through years of editing hobby videos for myself and studying film at GCSE and A-Level. This was when I fully discovered my undying passion for filmmaking and when I realised I wanted to turn this interest in editing into a career. I then decided to study Film Production at university to deepen my understanding of the industry, broaden my network of contacts and gain experience on productions bigger than any I had undertaken before.
Studying at university has broadened my creative skillset and allowed me to develop and apply my knowledge of filmmaking through a large amount of practical projects. Throughout my time studying I worked on music videos, promotional videos, documentaries and of course, many short films as well. I have been professionally taught in a range of filmmaking roles including directing, screenwriting, cinematography, sound and production design, all of which I have been assessed on and succeeded in. I even took optional Intermediate Editing and Advanced Editing classes during my second and third years respectively, in which I was taught extensive editing theory and how to use a range of post-production software. Following my graduation I began working as a freelance videographer and video editor. I am now looking for full-time work opportunities to further expand my network of contacts and to take the next step in my career. Skills
Through work on a number of productions I have developed strong teamwork and communication skills. On some of these projects, I have even demonstrated leadership through working as a producer. I am open minded and able to work both independently and as part of a team. I embrace constructive criticism, use it to grow and push my work to be even better. I have a strong eye for detail and aim to be thorough in my edits, putting a lot of care into every single cut. Despite this, I am still able to work quickly and deliver to deadlines due to my organisational and time management skills. I am also able to overcome any problems I face through creativity and problem solving.
On the more technical side of things, I am a very capable editor with strong knowledge of Premiere Pro, Final Cut and Avid. I also use After Effects, Audition, Photoshop and DaVinci Resolve for other areas of post-production. Beyond this, I am also a confident all-rounder with experience in directing, producing, sound and camera operation roles of video production. |
Experience
I currently film and edit videos as a freelance videographer and video editor for several businesses, some of which are returning clients. One such client is The Arts of Change Trust, a dramatherapy and counselling charity for which I have edited an online training video. Another is Cinema Rules, a film reaction and review YouTube channel with over 60,000 Subscribers and 6 million views. Another is Imajica Theatre Company, a children's entertainment business I have filmed and edited pantomime shows for, in addition to several short sketches and promotional videos. Yet another is the Military Intelligence Museum, a business I am mainly producing many interviews and short documentaries for.
Throughout my experience in university I have worked in a range of production roles across a variety of productions. This has given me a well rounded understanding of the entire filmmaking process and taught me how to work with other crew members in these roles. Short films make up the bulk of this experience, although I have also worked on music videos, advertisements, documentaries and more. Beyond this, I have also undergone further professional work via an internship offered by Solent University. Within this role, I worked on a number of short video projects for the university, including residence tours and graduation highlights. You can find a thorough breakdown of my experience on the Portfolio page of this website.
